The Era of Indian Dreams

We are the luckiest of all generations to live in this "Era of Changes". "Changes are the only constant".. and.. in our time, Constant Changes have made the time really run after man. It is very true that in many fields we, Human beings have outran TIME. Why am I talking this? .. We all know !! Yeah, we all know. I will only highlight some events, which brought changes within us & which are likely to find a place in the Indian History. We, in our schools read Ancient, Medieval & Modern History. In the coming years the books will require a few more pages to cover the recent developments in different fields. In the last two decades, India saw many industries take birth, many old ones succumb, liberalization, globalisation, the emerging middle class & what not ? These developments influenced the policies of the Government & the Corporates and they brought radical changes in our econmomy and in our lives. The large Middle Class was the root of all these developments and is still multiplying the changes. But, also we, Indians underwent such a cultural change, that baffles the Western minds. Even in the mid 90s India was far behind many Asian Nations!! ugggghhhhh..... Our movies lacked technology!! Our automobiles lacked power!! our sports lacked aggression !! and our Life lacked Pace.

Then..How and when did it all happen? The Young India was making it all but slowly and steadily. We Saw, We Learnt, We Conquered. The TV became the window to the world. Then we dreamnt to cross horizons & the technology showered information and our learning mind thought to explore. The physique of young india was also destined to develop with the mind. The 1983 world cup, the hockey golds in Olympics had all influeneced many to make a sporting career and the Indians were getting fitter. The late 90s saw many achievers in sports, movies. and various other field. Slowly, the Indian mindset was changing. The 1998 Nuclear test fanned the fire in the hearts of a Young India and made Indians fearless and bold. By, then India was being reckoned as an Asian power. The fearless, confident, audacious young feet were stepping into every fields and making their mark. The gobal attention was slowly moving towards India.

The entire movement gained only more and more momentum with the time. India started setting trends for the world to follow. Nano, the Tata Jaguar deal, the T20 world cup victory, Slumdog Millionaire winning oscar , the Jaagore campaign are all still continuing to make our dreams bigger. Despite the Global Recession, BCCI staged one of the expensive Cricket Carnival IPL just recently in South Africa. Isn't this a clear proof of we, Indians getting bigger with our dreams and our dreams getting bigger with us?

No fear & No doubts.. only.. We Dream & We Achieve.

Waiting On..

I came here as a stranger, I knew no one, nor I knew that I will see this world. The world in which I grew up, the world which is fading away, the only thing that is left are those memories. The world will never be the same again. But this cycle can't stop. You find the best out of here, a new culture, the passion for life, & the bollywood dreams. The prayers, the wishes, the loving touch, the dream they see in you is the just the beginning of it, if the sky is the limit then no dreams are too big for anyone in this world. If dreams are to be fulfilled, the world is the best place to live in. The place where you find everything, the place where you get the opportunity to show to the world, what you are? Life is always full of surprises. It’s for those who are adventurous enough & willing to accept the challenge. Not everyone is accepted, only the fittest survives.
Today, Chances are many, emotions too many, love all around, the crushes , the fall outs, the birthday bumps, the midnight ice-creams, the last movie show, the long lectures, the presentations, our buzz all around, the songs we sing is the new world we live in. What else is installed, we never know, what best we can do is working towards the goal & to follow the reason why we all came in this world. Lets be the reason for all people out here, a commitment for a better society where everyone is happy with all the things they do in. A reason to show that we do something better for everyone to make this world a better place to live on.
Miracles do happen, lucks do come, impossible is nothing, no dreams are too big for anyone and destiny does matter. But who care? Life goes on, so do we… Success or Failure is another lesson learnt. Now it is time for us to move on, to the new world to start it all over again. To accept new challenges of life, here is the opportunity to blend in with the new world waiting for us to wel-come us with open arms. But do think a little deeper within yourself. Are we waiting for the world to change? Or We are going to change the world?. If you have the answers think again When & How?

The "Grow & Shrink" phenomenon

"Grow or Shrink", is the only formula which every matter, living or non-living, applies to exist and is the only Rule of Survival. This is a natural process and is beyond our control. Nothing in this world stays in the same state forever. So, a stable state is only a matter of Time. In fact, Growth and Shrinkage happens at the same time and at the cost of one another. A thing grows because something else shrinks!!

This is no rocket science, but a universal phenomenon of time. Science explains about the theory of equillibrium. We have similar theories in Economics, Accounting & etc etc. So, this is nothing new to us. But, a study on this phenomenon can certainly help in a better understanding of everything the world knows and also in forecasting the future trends.

The Institution of Family
is the topic, I will be discussing here . The Homo Sapiens evolved with the evolution of family. Civilasations began with families and these families gradually took a larger shape of Joint Families. Then industrialisation, urbanisation, modernisation, globalisation and all other Z..ations further moulded this institution into different shapes. Joint Families got broken and took the shapes of Complex familiy, Extended family, Nuclear family and yet many more forms to come.

Adapting from the west, the East is seeing the evolution of a Live-in culture. Can we give the live-in s the status of a family? I believe, at sometime in the future we will. Growth of Human beings' activities, his increasing social intearactions, his desire for freedom, independence, the dying emotions, and his urge for identity is taking man away from the traditional institution of Family to a much larger Societal family and finally to a Global Family. It won't be too long when children will be on their own and parents not at all concerned for their well- being. We can safely say that the traditional institution of Family will shrink and finally perish with the growth of a new form of family.

Is it going to be detrimental to the race of Human Beings?
Will this be a Robotic society? Is this the way we are Optimising? TIME can only answer these Questions.. or... Can WE.. control these Developments by regulating the GROW & SHRINK phenomenon?

"Winners Never Quit & Those Who Quit Never Wins"

Are you ready to get success in whatever the goal you have set? Are you ready to achieve your dream with confidence and commitment? Do you really want to achieve what you dreamt for? It does not matter what you want to achieve but willpower and importance of your dream in your life are matter for achieving of goal.

Winners never quit and Those Who Quit Never Wins In the 1968 Olympics, John Stephen Akhwari of Tanzania started the race with the rest of the runners. However, he was alone when he reached the finishing line after the winner broke the finish line only a handful of viewers left in the stadium. Later, a reporter took his interview and asked why he didn't quit like the rest of the runners since the winner has already broken the finish line. He answered "My country did not send me to the Olympics to start the race; they sent me here to finish it."

If we imply the same phenomenon in our life too, the key of success is that we should not quit just because of one has finished the race, we must keep on moving and learning with our own experiences, it would definitely make us able to improve and run the race in better and stronger way next time. Most of the people do put their firm endeavours to move in the direction of their aims. However many people failed because of choosing an easier option that is quitting. Failure makes only procrastinate to success but quitting widens the gap between one and his aim or goal which becomes almost impossible for him to achieve.

Quitting too much in the long run can turn oneself into an escapist. We always tend to work on our own comfort zones. The world would not be advanced because of those people who never thought of quitting when things do not turn out as what they have initially planned.

Thomas A Edison discovered 10,000 ways. That ways did not work when he tried to invent the light bulb. He could have quitted long ago but never let his efforts down. He says: "Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up."

With a persistent attitude, we would be able to accomplish anything.

As it is being said "sweat never goes in waste", any endeavour even if leading to a failure is the first step of reaching to success, one must not get disappointed by the strong winds of hard times, but must have killer instinct to fight with it and be triumphant. Failure is never permanent until the day we decide to quit and give up.

Someone truly said "It's never too late". So why to bother about the future pros and cons? A let go- attitude is required to give the boost to our own endeavours and must have pledge to accomplish our task with proud and dignity.

Sometimes failure is better than success

One of the greatest impediments to a first-time project manager’s success is their need to succeed. Paul Glen says there are three things they really need — and early success isn’t one of them.

Nothing succeeds like success, except in project management where nothing succeeds like failure.

Managing an IT project is very difficult, especially the first time you try it. The project manager’s days and nights are filled with stress, worry, dreams, aspirations, and fear. Some first timers are overwhelmed by their newfound power, while some are weighed down by the responsibility. But for most, the overriding concern is to avoid both personal and project failure.

This fear is often instilled and/or reinforced by the project manager’s supervisor. The new assignment is often initiated with comments like, “Don’t screw this up.” “This is your big chance to shine.” Or, “don’t make me look bad and regret giving you this opportunity.” Trust me, those sorts of comments really help first timers succeed.

For the project manager, this sort of fear is not only counterproductive, but also misplaced. In fact, I think that every first time project manager desperately needs to fail. That’s right. I’m not just saying that it’s ok to fail; I’m saying that if they don’t fail, they may never learn to be effective project managers. In fact, complete success may set their management careers back by years.

As a manager, consultant, trainer, and coach, I’ve had the opportunity to work with hundreds of first-time project managers, and I’ve become convinced that one of the greatest impediments to their success is their need to succeed. If against all odds they do manage to succeed, they fall prey to the twin career killers, arrogance and self-confidence, depriving them of the opportunity to grow and learn.

Project management is such a complex discipline that it is completely impossible for a first timer to have mastered all the subtleties of task, people, and risk management. In fact, it’s impossible for anyone, no matter how experienced, to have mastered it all. The successful first timer is invariably lulled into a false sense of security that they know much more than they really do. They become convinced that they are now fully-fledged managers and can take on anything.

What’s more dangerous is that they get brain freeze. They stop learning. Why learn when you have mastered a topic?

It can take two or three failed projects to undo the career damage inflicted by early success before a new project manager reclaims the humility and open-mindedness that they started with. Unfortunately, by that time, their careers have probably absorbed major damage. It is one thing to be seen as making a few mistakes as a first timer; it’s another to have demonstrated a pattern of failure. Both the manager’s image and self-image have been irretrievably damaged.

So what does the first timer need?

  • A few big mistakes
  • Permission to make those mistakes
  • Coaching and introspection to learn from them

If you are a first-time project manager, be prepared for some problems along the way. Relax and enjoy the ride. No one will lose respect for you.

If you are the manager of a first timer, give them permission to make mistakes. When they do, make sure that they learn from them and don’t make the same ones again. Coach them about the sources of problems and the meaning of their failures. It’s normal for them to have difficulties, but make sure that you view them as training investments and not as screw-ups. Your job is to ensure that you get the maximum return on investment for the training that mistakes offer.

Becoming a project manager is hard work, but a little failure will help make the transition from individual producer to manager more successful.

Standing Out From the Crowd - Robert Gerris

Inevitably, entrepreneurs compete for business alongside others offering the same or similar services. Some sectors of business are very crowded making it difficult to make inroads, particularly for those establishing a new business.

So, what can we do to create some stand-out? How do we get noticed when surrounded by competitors?

Let's start by looking a little more deeply into the benefits of standing out from the crowd. By having a point of difference, we are in effect generating an area of specialisation. Used and developed properly, this will give us what the jargon lovers call our USP, or Unique Sales Proposition - in other words an answer to the question: "Why should I use you as opposed to anyone else?"

By specialising in some way (more on that in a minute), we create a reason for others to take note. This in turn (depending on who the 'others' are) can lead to an increased likelihood of press/media interest, can contribute to word of mouth promotion and subsequent referrals, and contributes greatly to the clarity of message we use in our marketing.

It's not hard to see the value in standing out, the question now is: How?

For a start we need to be realistic. Making a big song and dance about what you see as your USP will only work if your potential clients and customers believe what you're saying and if you're addressing an issue that is important to them. Stay away from the obvious. Saying you're 'the highest quality' or 'the quickest' or 'the cheapest' is hardly the language of uniqueness and is unlikely to set you apart from your competitors. Look closely for uniqueness.

Surprisingly, a good place to begin may actually be to look outside of your business. You may consider your ethnic background, or your interests and hobbies afford you some uniqueness. For example, you may have a tremendous grasp of cultures and traditions that would impact favourably on projects that involve import or export issues. You may be an accomplished sportsperson and use this to emphasise your team skills or your practical knowledge of the finer points of competition.

From here we need to expand and delve further to see what it is that truly makes our business offering unique. Probably the best way to tackle this is to elicit feedback from our past customers and those around us. Try posing the question: "What makes me unique?" and listen for signals that may point to something you've overlooked.

The search for uniqueness often results in the exposure of simple, yet powerful pointers. Bring these to the fore and you'll be well on the way to creating memorable stand-out.

The other face of Downturn

Many people would like to start a business, but worry that a downturn in the economy would lead their company to fail. However, some of the best ideas for a good business are in fields that are not typically affected by a recession.

One example is providing accounting services. No matter how bad the economy gets, taxes still need to be done. In fact, if you can provide financial planning services in addition to payroll and tax accounting, you might even see this field boom if the economy takes a downturn. When things get tight, people will be looking to the professionals to help them find ways to stretch their budgets.

Another option is getting into the tech industry. In this increasingly technologically driven world, companies can't afford to cut back on their information technology services. With more and more jobs being able to be done more quickly and easily with computers, companies will be looking for technology experts to help them streamline their business.

As the economy goes down hill, one sad reality is that more people are unable to pay their mortgages. Foreclosed homes are typically very cheap and can be bought easily with a little capital. You can then turn these homes around and re-sell them for a nice profit. If you're able to buy these homes without obtaining a mortgage, you can even sit on them until the housing market bounces back and make a ton of money.

No matter how dire the financial climate may seem, there are always businesses that will continue to boom. The best ideas for a good business are ones that will continue to perform no matter what the situation.

If you need money now, like I mean in the next hour, try what I did. I am making more money now than in my old business and you can too, read the amazing, true story, in the link below. When I joined I was skeptical for just ten seconds before I realized what this was. I was smiling from ear to ear and you will too.

How does it spread?

Social networking concluded…………….

In this session lets have have a closer look at the basic types of social networking sites (now onwardswill be called socnet )and the way people use them. First lets start with a thought provoking example of a socnet called Gurgle ,which is a socnet for parents where they can talk or get knowledge about pregnancy, birth, and bringing up children.

On the broader grounds there are two types of socnets viz. internal social networking (ISN) and external social networking(ESN). ISN is the socnet which is created for a special purpose and is closed from the perspective of other people joining who are not involved in the purpose whereas ESN is an open ended socnet which is open to the entry of any one ,i.e free to all entrants and entries through a formal signup and add request.Usually socnets have disclaimers or so called privacy settings which are required to be followed.

Now lets talk about how we get connected on the socnet, this will be easier to discuss and understand after looking at following picture.

Here we can see that a person called dhun is friends with four people on the socnet. All are listed in the friend list of dhun and similarly dhun is listed in their friend list. When deepali logs in into the socnet she sees an interesting scrap or blog from subu ands wants to be friends with him, so she sends a friend request to him and on his acceptnce becomes a friend of him. Now she can interact with him through the socnet and the future prospects are boundless. Here its necessary to understand that two people who were totally unknown to each other have come to know and understand each other. Similarly if another person lets say narayani knows or is enlisted in the profile of subu, he can go through his profile to join and be friends with deepali.

The Social Sites Network Movement.

The earliest example of social networking sites can be sites like Classmates.com and SixDegrees.com. But soon the suite followed were youngsters tried to remain in touch with each other even after their formal meeting,,and so came in the real online networking boom of orkut and myspace, which has engulfed people from all parts and walks of life. Then came in the online marriage matchmaking portals which did the task of getting people together for a lifelong basis. In this introductory part lets just have a look at the way people get hooked to the social networking sites and how their perceptions play an important role in their decisions of going further with the networking tools .

The pros and cons of social networking are subjective and vary from person to person and in this era of online growth one can be quite imaginative. So lets use the social networking sites for creative work and its much required as being MBA grads we will soon set our foot on the holy war grounds called workplaces………….so lets look at the pic above and think about it.

The Desire to Excel

A German once visited a temple under construction where he saw a sculptor making an idol of God. Suddenly he noticed a similar idol lying nearby. Surprised, he asked the sculptor, "Do you need two statues of the same idol?" "No," said the sculptor without looking up, "We need only one, but the first one got damaged at the last stage." The gentleman examined the idol and found no apparent damage. "Where is the damage?" he asked. "There is a scratch on the nose of the idol." said the sculptor, still busy with his work. "Where are you going to install the idol?"

The sculptor replied that it would be installed on a pillar twenty feet high. "If the idol is that far, who is going to know that there is a scratch on the nose?" the gentleman asked. The sculptor stopped his work, looked up at the gentleman, smiled and said, "I will know it."

The desire to excel is exclusive of the fact whether someone else appreciates it or not. "Excellence" is a drive from inside, not outside.

Excellence is not for someone else to notice but for your own satisfaction. and efficiency.ent.

Destined to Succeed.

Einstein was 4 years old before he could speak.

Issac Newton did poorly in grade school and was considered "unpromising."

When Thomas Edison was a youngster, his teacher told him he was too stupid to learn anything. He was counseled to go into a field where he might succeed by virtue of his pleasant personality.

F.W. Woolworth got a job in a dry goods store when he was 21, but his boss would not permit him to wait on customers because he "didn't have enough sense to close a sale."

Michael Jordan was cut from his high school basketball team.
Bob Cousy suffered the same fate, but he too is a Hall of Famer.

A newspaper editor fired Walt Disney because he "lacked imagination and had no original ideas."

Winston Churchill failed the 6th grade and had to repeat it because he did not complete the tests that were required for promotion.

Babe Ruth struck out 1,300 times, a major league record.

A person may make mistakes, but is not a failure until he or she starts blaming someone else. We must believe in ourselves, and somewhere along the road of life we will meet someone who sees greatness in us and lets us know it.

The Flame

If the blinding darkness can look so enchanting with a candle light, then a not so good world can become a better one with our minds.
Just our minds need to be ignited with the flame of an Idea.

Time, and time again

Time, and time again
To realize the value of ONE YEAR,ask a student who failed his exams...
To realize the value of ONE MONTH, ask a mother who gave birth to a premature baby...
To realize the value of ONE WEEK, ask the editor of a weekly newspaper...
To realize the value of ONE DAY, ask a daily wage laborer...
To realize the value of ONE HOUR, ask the lovers who are waiting to meet...
To realize the value of ONE MINUTE, ask a person who missed the train...
To realize the value of ONE SECOND, ask a person who just avoided an accident...
To realize the value of ONE MILLISECOND, ask the person who won a silver medal in the Olympics...
Treasure every moment that you have!!

.YESTERDAY is history.
.TOMORROW is a mystery.
.TODAY is a gift. That's why it's called the PRESENT!!

Entrepreneurs

Entrepreneurs do things which are not generally practiced in the ordinary course of business.
Few entrepreneurs achieve the status of celebrities overnight...and others are ridiculed for their failure. But their energy does not end their. They try even harder to achieve what they want.
With such energy let all of us contribute to the spirit of free enterprise.
Entrepreneurship is an Exploration of Dream.

The Helping Question.

Where ever you go you find a lot of Questions left unanswered. A question that often pops up in our mind is that, "Is it the only way to do a thing or is there any other way to it?
Several times we even see a better way or a solution in our mind. But because of all the 101 reasons we have in our life, we fail to implement those solutions or ideas.

Recently in the NLP class we came across a very interesting statistics which says that we all have on an average 3 ideas/ day which has the potential to make us Billionaire, sounds interesting.

When we talk of ideas here, we are talking of anything, which can make our life better. It can be a new format of business, or a theory on any specific topic or anything which can produce positive outcomes.

It should be borne in the mind that the ideas need nourishment inside our mind, first. After getting approval from all the faculties of mind, it clears the test for its execution. I feel this to be the most difficult stage of an Idea plantation. At this point the H & the Ws generate so much friction in our mind that every thing halts, without any screeching sound. Thereafter, you find no clue of the idea . So the first step is the last obstacle in its execution. With the first step only, half the problems are solved.

"Every individual is gifted with a very beautiful mind to think" .... but the beauty can be seen, only when it is used .....

The Root of Change.

Man has been adapting himself with the time, air, fire, water, people, situation and till now, walking tall against all his counterpart creatures on Earth & the various forces of nature.

What made him the ruler of this big planet and now probably even on other celestials???

The answer is "IDEAS & THEIR IMPLEMENTATION". We don't realize that everything we do, from brushing our teeth to driving all the way to a Multiplex we do it with some ideas.

What we really call "Ideas" are only the summation of these matured inbuilt ideas. But many a times because of their complexity we leave them at a very nascent stage. So there we commit the act of "Idea Infanticide".

The point I want to establish is that no idea is a bad idea & the reason because, it drives CHANGES. Any +ve idea deserves a close look and if viable, it should not be deprived of its LIFE.
Breathe air into an IDEA and see a different TOMORROW.

A CHANGE sets TREND & A TREND gets incused on TIME.

When Dream Directs..

Entrepreneurship is neither confusing nor complicated as its pronounciation. Entrepreneurship was there in India much before Globalisation and even before the Great Industrial Revolution in Europe. In fact, human beings prospered because somebody, some day gave us its meaning and its formula.

The word entrepreneur originates from the French word, entreprendre, which means "to undertake."

On one hand, it is considered by many as a rocket science term and on the other hand, nowadays it’s being overused in B-Schools. Entrepreneurship is many a time used synonymously with small business. But there is a significant difference between the two. An entrepreneur brings in innovation in an existing business format and he takes big risks for the sake of his dream. Ethics also play a big part in his dream. So, society at large gets benefited from his venture.

Entrepreneurship brings a small change with a small idea, but brings big outcomes. It’s all about fitting your glasses in others eyes and making the world look better.

“An Entrepreneur gives a new direction to an existing way and thereby gives a new way to live.”
